Alright, I made it to bloghan 2. It's been a mostly uneventful week, especially at work. Unfortunately, when it came to getting things done, it was also uneventful.
First though, tier list of the week! This week: rock-paper-scissors. On a side note, what would you call the group of these three as one noun? In other words, when you're explainng the rules of this game to someone, usually you say something along the lines of "then you choose rock, paper, or scissors," but what one word would fill the blank in "then you choose ____," wrapping rock, paper, and scissors in one word? I feel like "throw" wouldn't work, becuase that's more like the act of presenting what you chose, and not actually what you chose. "Weapon" could work, but can you really call paper a weapon? Anyways, the tier list:
Ordered tiers, but unordered within tiers. Good ol' rock. Nothing beats that. And if it does, its C-tier for sure.
Honestly, not too much happened this week. I finally completed my first task at work, and it made me realize how I probably don't deserve to put Tcl on my resume. However, once I'm finished with this work term, I'm sure that I will be able to justify it. Scripting with Tcl doesn't even seem so hard, it's just a matter of getting used to a syntax I've barely written code in. Some things are strange, like how a program will still fully compile if you use commas to separate arguments in a process defintion, even though that makes it so you can't even pass in any arguments. Aside from that, work is going pretty smoothly. The company treats everyone really well, and I feel like most of my coworkers take advantage of that, but that might be because my team is between projects. My expectations of what full-time work would be like are very very different from what I'm actually doing, and I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or not. My expectations on what I'm actually working on have also been surpassed, so overall, I'm really quite happy with this job.
This city is growing on me too. It's reminding me a bit of Switzerland with how often it rains, and how humid it feels when it's warm out. I have yet to experience winter here, so I'm holding out until then. It's not really too cold or too warm, and the community I live in seems quite nice. Things are close by, and while some days my groceries are quite heavy, the walk isn't too bad, and if I'm lucky, the bus comes by. I do feel like the grocers managing the self checkout think I'm an idiot, due to my numerous mistakes at said self-checkout. To be fair, I feel like the processes used by those machines are more complicated then they need to be. How am I supposed to know which platform is the bagging area when you don't label it? I would use the regular checkout but it's always filled with old people. Technology makes things easier, but something I've really been reflecting on at work is how much I'd rather a bunch of things have less technology in them. AI being implemented in literally everything is cool and great for some people, but with what I'm seeing at work, I want to make sure that I keep my things as AI-free as possible for as long as possible (headphones are ok though, they can stay).
Outside of work and chores, I haven't really been up to much. I played some games, read some literature, slept-in a concerning amount. I wonder a lot if this is how my adult life will look like for a good while?
I have decided that in this section, not only will I present my new future plans, but I will also provide updates on the future plans mentioned in the last bloghan.
Here's how those plans from last week are going:
Now, for the new future plans! For cooking, this week I want to make completely new things! I bought some stir-fry noodles and pasta, recently obtained 7kg of rice for free, and I got a bunch of different meats, veggies, and sauces, so there's lots I can make. Also this week, I plan to finally finish reading 'Delicious in Dungeon,' and fully realize the to-do page by adding a subpage listing things I have completed. I will be hanging up pictures in my place this week for sure, and will also begin implementing my strategies to deal with that website door. A downtown visit is looking more and more likely this weekend, but I've got no clue where I would go (saving the aquarium for August). Honestly, I don't really have too many really long-term plans right now.
'Rainbow Road' (https://youtu.be/a0Aauep0VWs), by nanobii is the song of the week. I find myself listening to this song a lot, and it always hypes me up every time. So far this July, I've found myself listening to it more often than usual. Fun fact: I first heard this song in 'Just Shapes and Beats,' but its so much more than an electronic song in the funny bullet hell rhythm game.
That's all for bloghan 2. Again, let me know what you thought, what kinds of things you want to see more of, what you want less of. In those suggestions, we can also play rock-paper-scissors, just include which one you're playing in your message, and I'll respond with my own throw.
