August 11, 2024 - bloghan 6

It's time for bloghan 6! It feels so long ago that I wrote bloghan 1 and it has only been 6 weeks? Not even two months? I can't believe it. Not much happened this week, at least compared to other weeks.

Tier list of the week

This week's tier list: soda!! I haven't had a whole lot of soda, and I've started to drink it a bit more, which is a habit I should probably nip in the bud as quickly as possible. Here's the tier list:

Ordered tiers, but unordered within tiers. Iced tea isn't included on here because it is not a soda. It is a soft drink, because it's a water base with sweetener and flavouring, even if it isn't carbonated. I never knew that there was that distinction between soft drinks and sodas.

Personal updates (achievements, reflections, and antics)

Not much happened this week. At the start of the week, it was revealed that the work meme contest would be an anonymous vote among everyone's memes, but since my voice was in mine, I got outed right away. Wednesday came by, and I didn't win any of the prizes. But that's ok, I'm still glad I made what I did, because now I can use Kdenlive! I quite liked that process, and I think I will make more short videos with it (some memes, some maybe not? who knows). The prize was only Uber Eats vouchers anyways. Maybe I could finally make one of those Lobotomy Kaisen videos that people make about routers or mathematical proofs or biological cells.

The week at work was mostly defined by a single task, one that requires a bit of work and hacking away. I have to book cubicles for each day (just for now, it won't be like that forever), and sometimes I find that the cubicle I book is occupied. Then, I just find a table near some of my work friends, since they don't have cubicles, but desks by windows. There was a point where another work friend joined us, but there no chairs, so she sat on the floor. I felt bad, so I sat on the floor in solidarity. We all kind of got distracted and started chatting, then one guy goes to the washroom, and lets us know that our project manager probably heard almost everything we talked about. So, it turns out that was not a great time for us to have a conversation about our types and romantic interests. Eventually, someone went to a meeting, and we all ended up back in chairs. What a day. I didn't get any work done.

My mother visited on Friday. The visit ended on Saturday.

On Sunday, I was invited out by my coworkers to something described to me as "bluffs." I knew already that it was related to cliffs and such, but I had no idea that it involved coasts. So, guess who showed up to the beach in grey jeans and the thickest black sweater he had? This guy! Honestly, it wasn't so bad. It was a bit cooler than the last beach trip, and the long sleeves helped block a lot of the rays anyway. Playing volleyball felt better as well, since bumping it didn't hurt as much with my sleeves. I did have to roll them up for serving, but I managed to actually serve over the net this time, so things were alright. One person didn't want to play at first, so I sat out with them to make sure there were an even amount of players on both sides. I had a lot of fun during that being the scorekeeper, calling out the scores as each point happened. I said at one point "Team Spike Factory always comes from behind," which was a both a mistake and fully intentional. This time at the beach felt a lot more fun, mostly because of the cooler temperature, spending less time there, and actually being able to be useful in volleyball. I got a ride back, got back to my place, and started cleaning, making food, and getting ready for work the next day. All in all, a simultaneously relaxed and stressed week. I'm sure that this week will be just like that.

Future plans

Going to be honest with you: work is actually getting intense now. I did not get to anything on my to-do list, save for a bit of "NUMAZU in the MIRAGE," I actually made some significant progress towards 100%-ing the achievements! I'm probably not going to set many things to do this week because of that deadline, but once it's done, I think I might finally, FINALLY, go downtown (now that I know how to do it) and finally, FINALLY, go to the aquarium (and fall in love!? (not likely) when will someone take me to the "I want to fall in love" aquarium?).

Song of the week

'Can You Feel the Sunshine?' (https://youtu.be/XWoekUxnZ7w) from 'Sonic R' is the song of the week. I've been listening to the soundtrack of that game a lot recently, as I use it to get myself more energetic in the morning, right after I wake up. This song succesfully brings me that energy, and I need to listen to it more so that I can memorize the lyrics and start singing along. The opening lyrics are really special to me right now, since I feel like they describe almost exactly how I feel about my living situation right now: "Can you see? The sun is shinin' on me / It makes me feel so free, so alive / It makes me want to survive." That's how I'm feeling over here, right now, and I hope I keep feeling that way for months to come.

Call for suggestions

This marks the end of bloghan 6. Work is picking up a lot due to that aforementioned big deadline, and my contribution needs a lot of fixing to get working. Uploads to random thoughts might slow down, but see you for bloghan 7 in a week!
